Do federal credit unions normally charge a fee for accepting IRA transfer?

I am interested in transferring my IRA money from the investment firm to my new IRA CD account with the local federal credit union. Do federal credit unions normally charge a fee for that? Or do investment firms normally charge a fee for that? I could not get info on that. I understand it might be different depending on credit unions. But I am just wondering if they do or not as a common standard. Does anyone know? Thank you.

  1. While I have not used a credit union for a long time, I have never been charged a fee by the destination of an ACH electronic funds transfer for an IRA. The destination is happy just to get your money. However, the institution you transfer the money "from" may charge a fee, especially if closing out an account. That would come out of the IRA itself with no tax implications.
  2. most like banks do not charge a fee!!!
